How do I pay for Home Care?
Medicare/Medicaid
Overwhelmingly, a high percentage of home care costs are covered by the government through Medicare and Medicaid programs.

What is CDPAP?
CDPAP stands for Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program, which is a New York State Medicaid program. This program allows consumers to recruit, hire, and direct their home care worker. Consumers can hire their own family members or friends. Please contact us and one of our specialists can guide you through the process.
Who can be hired as a caregiver for CDPAP?
You can become a caregiver if you are a relative, child or friend of the client. However, if you are a legal spouse, a person who is a parent who wants to take care of their child who is under 21 years of age, or any person(s) acting as your designated representative, you may not be eligible to be a caregiver.

How does care schedule work?
The CDPAP schedule is determined by the nurse who will visit the patient’s home and assess their needs.
What are the requirements for CDPAP?
In order to be eligible to apply for this program, there are several prerequisites that must be met in order to be able to enroll for CDPAP. The most basic requirement is that the client must be enrolled in the NY Medicaid program.
What is the process of enrollment?
In order to be able to enroll for this program, the patient must be able to verify that they are qualified for enrollment. There will be an assessment period performed by a NYS agency – Maximus NYMC. After this assessment process, the patient will be allowed to designate the caregiver of their choice. Golden Touch will guide you through this process every step of the way.
What is a PCA?
Personal Care Aides are equipped to provide support to those who require assistance with their daily living. We carefully match each client with a companion that fits their needs and lifestyle. Whether it is someone to assist with basic daily activities, accompany with to doctor visits, or light household chores – a PCA can be a great benefit for families seeking to keep their loved ones, cared for. PCAs are required to complete a 40-hour training course that is taught by a professional Registered Nurse and is approved by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
What is an HHA?
The Home Health Aide is a trained caregiver qualified to carry out health care tasks, assist with personal hygiene, light housekeeping, and other related supportive tasks to a patient with daily care needs in the comfort of their own home. In New York, every HHA is required to complete a 75-hour training course as well as ongoing training twice a year, which is approved by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
Here’s an example of the type of tasks that an HHA is trained to provide:
1.Assist with home exercise program

3.Help with getting in or out of bed, chairs, cars, etc.

What are the basic qualifications?
Golden Touch Home Health provides home health services within the five boroughs plus Westchester. If you are a NYC resident and also have Medicaid, Golden Touch will be able to assist you in enrolling for this program.
